I thought it might be nice to share a month in the life of cadet. It has been a busy start to the academic year! September has been action packed and it gives you a flavour of what you can do as a Cadet at 2473 (Highlands & Southgate) Squadron.
The month started off with preparations for Wing Field Day: all the Squadrons in our Wing (or ‘area’) get together competing in all sorts of activities from Photography to Drill! As well as other activities like Banner Drill and Band. There is something for everyone. I entered both the photography competition and the aero-modelling and am very pleased to announce that my contributions brought our squadron cups in three categories!
We also had our inter-wing swimming gala where we won multiple medals including four bronzes and two silvers! Am pleased to say I was able to contribute one silver and two bronzes to this total. And to finish off this month there was a weekend activity camp at Longmoor in Berkshire where I worked towards and achieved my Marksman badge.
Our fundraising efforts combined with a Jack Petchey Award has enabled us to go on a White Water Rafting activity at the Lee Valley Centre which was an amazing experience and a fun night out with my friends from 2473. There’s so much to choose from. The opportunities are there for the taking!
