Swimming Competency

On the 15 February I attended a basic swimming test at Southbury leisure centre to determine whether I was a strong swimmer.

The first task was we had to swim 20 meters of the pool. We then had to tread water for two minutes, so we could determine whether we could float.

You could then go on to a harder task, were you had to swim 40 meters. I then had to show a rescue technique of using a top as a rope to aid in the rescue. I also had to use my strength to pull them out by their shoulders. These are all essential skills you need to know to attend water activities.

I was grateful for the opportunity.
