With all face-to-face cadet activity suspended due to Covid-19, the Royal Air Force Air Cadets National Youth Ensembles decided to record themselves playing their musical parts at home and a full virtual band recording was then produced.

2473 Squadrons very own Sgt Jeffery took part and the final outcome was phenomenal. Keep reading to find out what Sgt Jeffery had to say about the event.

As a member of the National Concert Band of the ACO, I was invited to take part in a virtual performance online. Staff sent out music for us all to play and we then recorded ourselves playing along to a backing track and sent our videos in. The bandmasters then stitched together all of our videos and produced a concert performance of the Toto song ‘Africa’. The video went viral, reaching over 100’000 people worldwide and we even got featured on Sky News and on BBC Radio Lincolnshire! Click the link below to watch our performance. It was a lot of work for all those involved, but it was great fun and an enjoyable challenge which certainly paid off! – Sgt Jeffery
